Welcome to On Point Acupuncture and Veterinary Services! We offer a unique and specialized service for large and small animal owners in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties, Florida, by providing Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Food Therapy, and Tui-Na.

Our goal is to provide you and your pet or horse with high-quality, compassionate holistic services that help to promote healing and wellness. Using principles of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, an individualized treatment plan is made for each animal. Many diseases and conditions can benefit from one or a combination of modalities and can be used in conjunction with “Western” veterinary treatments. We are a mobile practice, so examinations and treatments will be conducted at your home or farm, by appointment only. Often, this is easier on you as the owner, and also the patient, as they may be more relaxed and there is not a need to “load” them into a vehicle.


Dr. Karen Prine has been a veterinarian since 1996 after graduating from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Since then, she has worked in both equine and small animal practices before proudly serving several years in the U.S. Army afterwards she provided services at a local County Animal Shelter. In addition, she has received a Master’s in Forensic Toxicology and has done extensive coursework in focusing on entomology (mostly ticks) and Geographic Information Systems (mapping).

Dr. Prine is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) that trained at the Chi University for both equine and small animal practice. She is now currently working on the completion of the Herbal Medicine Certification (CVCH), another very extensive program.


In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as reading, gardening and other outdoor activities, and of course her dog, Higgins.
